Making beautiful AA babies Part 3 ~ Nils

LIPS: Note: This is just how I do it. There are many other ways to create lips.

Supplies needed:

  • Lips/Blush/Nail GHSP
  • Flesh color used on your baby
  • Flesh 07
  • Filbert Brush
  • Genesis thinning Medium
  • Genesis glazing gel
Turn baby’s head the opposite way of the lip you are working on. Example. If you are working on the top lip, turn baby so that the top of the head is in you chest.

Take swipe of lip blush & nail on your filbert brush. And swipe of glazing gel & 1 swipe of thinning medium. Mix well. Start from inside the mouth of the and work your way up from the inner lip. Turn the head & do this for the bottom lip also.

Note: Color should be very thin & barely noticeable. Let dry then heat set then cool.

Take swipe of flesh 07 & mix with the previous color really well. Take your filbert brush & brush & pounce irregular color on the bottom lip. Also, thinly paint this color over the “lip blister” Not much. Heat set & let cool.

Take flesh color & add lips/blush/nail and paint around the outer lip very thin & feather up. Try to blend with INNER lips. Do not paint the lip blister. Paint “around it*.

Take same color & line creases of lips for depth. Heat set & cool

Take another thin layer of lip/blush/nail & paint entire lip. Heat set/cool

Seal the lips using your preference. I prefer the air dry gloss finish.

Eyebrows: This is my way, there are many other wonderful ways to complete this process.

Supplies needed:

  • Black prismcolor pencil or Espresso
  • Very thin well of yellow ochre wash or the wash of your choice.
Drawing on eyebrows is the hardest part of reborning *in my opinion*.

Step 1: Look at the scult's details & try to find where the "place" the eyebrows FIRST. Look at the sculpt from different angles to try & find the brow ridge. Eyebrows "normally" sit on the raised ridge or slightly below. Brows normally begin at the nose upwards from the corner of the eye & end past the outside corner of the eye.

Step 2: Take your pencil & make sure its EXTRA sharp. Turn the baby's head upside down & start on the opposite eye of what hand you use. For example, if you're right handed, start on the left eye. I do this because starting with the most difficult eye first will save you alot of frustration when you have 1 perfect brow & can't get the other one to look right.

Step 3: Start from the inside corner lightly draw a downward stroke. The first few strokes should appear to be coming strait up & as you get closer to the ear, start turning the stroke toward the ear. If you don't like the shape, use thinning medium & wipe off.

Step 4: Once you are satisfied with the shape, go back & fill in "strokes" where needed. Do this for the other eye as well.

Step 5: Once you are happy with both eyes, take your wash & THINLY brush over the baby. I usually put a wash over all the parts as I like my babies to have a very even color.

Step 6: Let parts completely dry, heatset then cool.
